The aim of this intensive course is to convey the basics of a magneto-optical trap. Guided by a combination of lectures, seminar talks (based on original publications) and practical training, the participants will set up and operate a magneto-optical trap.
The practical training is divided in five groups, where each set up one component of the experiment (laser systems, frequency stabilization, trapping optics). In the end the components will be combined to trap a cloud of Rubidium atoms, and the characteristics of the trap will be determined.
Participation is limited to 12 participants.
